Abstract:

Polyaniline/polystyrene (PAn/PS) nanocomposite was prepared in the aqueous solution by polymerization of styrene and aniline using potassium iodate (KIO3) and ammonium peroxydisulfate ((NH4)2S2O8) as oxidant in the presence of poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) as surfactant. The PAn/PS nanocomposite was characterized in terms of morphology, chemical structure, glass transition temperature and particle size. The results indicate that the morphology, chemicalstructure and glass transition temperature of products are dependent on the concentration of surfactant. The chemical structure, morphology and glass transition temperature of product werestudied by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
