Abstract:

Polyaniline/Silver Oxide (PANI/Ag2O) nanocomposite was prepared successfully in aqueous and aqueous/nonaqueous media by the chemical polymerization of aniline using ammonium peroxydisulphate as an oxidant in the presence of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as a steric stabilizer. The chemical structure, morphology, thermal stability were studied by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). FTIR spectrum analysis confirmed that the silver oxide nanoparticles were dispersed in the polymer matrix. The results indicate that the Ag2O, PVA and type of solution influence the properties of product.
