Abstract:

In this work, potentially effective factors in phenol removal from contaminated wastewater by Alcaligenes faecalis were investigated. Effect of other bacterium culture presence on the biodegradation progress was studied by introducing different ratios of activated sludge to the pure culture system. Results confirmed the negative effect of reduction in the A. faecalis ratio. To study co-metabolism effect, experiments on different concentrations of glucose were carried out which determined that 200 mg/L is the optimum glucose concentration as co-metabolism of biodegradation rate. Through batch experiments at different temperatures in the range of 20 to 33ºC, 30ºC was introduced as the optimum temperature of cell growth and degradation rate
