Abstract:

Aims:The present observation with the aim of determining effective educational and family factors on first year secondary school dropouts in Mirjaveh border town rural areas in the Sistan va Balouchestan province, Iran. Among 70 employed teachers based on Kerchesky and Morgan’s table, 50 teachers where selected using the orderly sampling method and answered the prepared questionnaire (with stability coefficient of 0.85 using Cronbach’s Alpha). Results show that from the viewpoint of teachers, the need to work on farms or outside home plays the biggest part in student dropouts. Other factors including loss of father, illiterate or less educated parents, long distance between home and school, mismatch of institutional conditions and rules, failure and absence from exams and teacher teaching methods, discrimination, poverty and poor family financial power, teacher misperception of student personal problems, and absence and loss of mother respectively account for student dropouts in the Mirjaveh region.
