Capabilities of Diagrid Structural system in Urban Tall Buildings Architecture

Diagrid structural system which has been developed rapidly in recent decade has several architectural and structural advantages. Parametric design and analysis would help engineers to use high potential of diagrid structures in creating different shapes in an optimal way. This paper presents a study over various geometries of diagrid structures applied for tall buildings and their aesthetic and structural capabilities and limitations. The goal is to present a new classification over main variable parameters of a Diagrid structure. The research method mainly consists of comparing the features of studied cases and also focusing on a citycircumstances to find out potentials suitable for using such structural systems. Designing methods are discussed by third section. in continuation the advantages of utilizing this system in Iran as a developing country with high seismic risk will be discussed.
