OPTIMAL CAPACITOR PLACEMENT IN A RADIAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM USING MODIFIED INVASIVE WEED OPTIMIZATION abstract
This paper presents a new method for capacitor placement in radial distribution systems that determine the optimal locations and size of capacitor with an objective of improving the voltage profile and reduction of energy loss cost. Modified Invasive Weed Optimization (MIWO) is used to identify the bus and the sizes of the capacitor for minimizing the energy loss cost and capacitor cost. The developed algorithm is tested for distribution systems at 11 KV High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) while taking the different sizes for capacitors
