Abstract:
In this paper, parametric study of how shape of the dam can affect the hydrodynamic pressure, considering dam-reservoir-foundation interaction has been investigated. During the earthquake, the dynamic behavior of this system is based on the elastodynamic equations governing structures and the differential equation governing the longitudinal waves in the reservoir domain, obtained from the Navier-Stokes equations for nonsticky fluids in the range of small movements, is called the Helmholtz equation. The foundation domain is assumed to be layered and infinite and the fluid domain is compressible too. The solving method is based on boundary element method in frequency domain. This method is very suitable for the infinite domain because the discretization of the domain is performed only in the border areas. Therefore, the size of modeling and computation decreases strongly. In this model P and S waves have been used on the structure. In order to assess the accuracy and efficiency 3D model has been considered. Different types of body shapes of dams, in this study are examined. Karaj double arch dam, Salman arch dam and Aras gravity dam, are used as a case study
