Chemically synthesize nano-sized Poly (N-phenyl pyrrole), Poly (N-methyl pyrrole) and poly (N-methyl pyrrole-co-pyrrole) at room temperature abstract

Poly (N-phenyl pyrrole) (P-NPhPy), Poly (N-methyl pyrrole) (P-NMPy) and poly (N-methyl pyrrole-co-pyrrole) (P-NMPy-co-Py) coatings were successfully chemically-deposited on polyester fibers in the mixed electrolytes of sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate (SDBS) with FeCl3 by chemically method at room temperature. The morphology and compositions were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. The conductivity was also measured. Different polymerization conditions including the concentration of the dopant and monomer, ratio of monomers in co-polymer and addition of acid or not were all investigated. Effects of functional group (-H, -CH3 and -Ph) on pyrrole chain and dopant type (Cl and DBS) in polymerization of pyrrole were investigated. The SEM results show that the morphology of the P- P-NMPy-co-Py is spheral and NPhPy is cabbage shape with sizes of 50-100 nano meters [1, 2].
