Study of Ionic Strength on Polyacrylamide Gelation Rate and Stability for co-Water Decreasing in Offshore Platforms abstract
Excessive water production in reservoirs is one of the most serious problems in the oil industry. Large amount of water production results in the need for more complex water-oil separation techniques, rapid corrosion of well equipment, rapid decline in hydrocarbon recovery, pollution of see ecosystems, and ultimately, premature abandonment of the well. Varieties of solutions are offered to control or at least reduce the unwanted produced water. Water soluble polymers with a suitable crosslinker have been successfully used to reduce water production in the field. This research was conducted to experimentally investigate the ionic strength on Partially Hydrolyzed Polyacrylamide (PHPA)/Chromium (III) gelation rate and stability in polymer flooding by Bottle testing Method as a saving method for see ecosystems near crude oil production platforms.
