Degradation of Acid Red 114 by nanophotocatalysis using immobilized titania nanoparticles abstract
The photocatalytic decolorization and mineralization of Acid Red 114 (AR114) were studied at an immobilized batch mode photocatalytic reactor. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles were used as photocatalyst. A simple and effective method was used to immobilization of titanium dioxide nanoparticles. UV-Vis, ion chromatography (IC) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) analyses were employed to obtain the details of the photocatalytic degradation of the AR114. The − , dye concentration, anions ( H 2 O 2 effects of operational parameters such as , NO 3 − , Cl − − , SO 4 2 − and HCO 3 ) and pH were investigated. Kinetics analysis CO 3 indicates that the photocatalytic decolorization rates can usually be approximated by first-order model for AR114. Results show that the employment of optimal operational parameters may lead to complete decolorization of dye solutions.
