Multiscale mesh analysis of water injection in heterogeneous porous media abstract
Reservoir formations exhibit wide range of heterogeneity from micro to macro scales. Recently, complex geological models are derived based on development of geotechnical techniques and statistical procedures. These geological models contain large amount of information with respect to reservoir heterogeneity. Moreover, simulation that involves all of these data is much time consuming or impossible in some cases. So, new method is needed to meet the computational cost. In this regard, Multiscale framework not only preserves geological valuable information but also simulates fluid phase in deformable porous media. In this paper multiscale framework to simulate fluid phases is described. Furthermore, interaction of fluid and solid phase is described and Mutiscale Multiphysic Mixed Geomechanical Model (M3GM) is presented. Finally, simulation of water injection in heterogeneous porous media with different mesh size is performed and also some recommendations with respect to mesh construction in multiscale framework are proposed.
