Abstract:
Biodegradable nanofibers simulate the fibril structure of natural extracellular matrix, and provide a cellfriendly microenvironment for tissue regeneration. Chitosan nanofibers through electro spinning have broadapplication in various biomedical applications. In this research work, different concentration of poly (hexa methylenebiguanide) (PHMB) was added to a blend solution of chitosan/PEO. Morphology and antimicrobial properties of matscontaining PHMB were determined. Staphylococcus aureus was used as a tested organism. Our results showed thataddition of PEO and an increasing concentration of PHMB induced spinnability. Moreover, chitosan nanofibercontaining PHMB have ability to inhibit the bacteria in vitro.
