Hydroxyapatite containing composite coating by electrophoretic process abstract
Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) is an electrochemical process that has been investigated as a technique to deposite bioactive coatings on metallic implants. Polymers and bioactive ceramics are being combined in a variety of novel materials for bone tissue applications. The composite systems combining appropriate mechanical properties of polymers with bioactivity of ceramics seem to be the promising choice for these application. In this work, composites of hydroxyapatite with polymers and additives on metallic implants using colloidal processing technology was studied.
