Abstract:
An unsteady two-dimensional viscous incompressible and isothermal model is presented to simulate cavitation phenomenon and its development in channel with a triangular obstacle. A local homogeneous model is used to model the vapor-liquid two phase medium. To describe the phase change between liquid and vapor, the mass transfer model based on the Kunz model is used. To simulate the cavitaion phenomenon the volume f f raction transport equation is solved along with the Navier Stokes equations. To solve these equations a fractional step method is used in the NUMELS code which is developed in the Marine Laboratory of Sharif University of Technology. This model is capable of predicting the typical effects of cavitation phenomenon in a wide range of Reynolds numbers. Using this model the flow in a channel with a triangular obstacle is
simulated and the results are compared with the literature.
