An Investigation into the Effect of Personality Type on the Quality of Literary Translation abstract
The main concern of the present study is to investigate potential effect of translation students’ personalities, as measured by Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), on the quality of their Englishinto- Persian translations in terms of literary text. This article presents some results of that study and their inference for interdisciplinary research in translation studies. This study will manifest the application of Reiss' typology (1971) to translated texts of 31 undergraduate students. The findings show that the existence of different types of personality could impact on their conduct in the translation of literary texts. The acquired result can be useful for translator training. In addition, present article shows that translation studies receive some influential concepts from psychology that ascertains the interdisciplinary nature of translation studies. The translators should be aware of these factors when they are translating.
