Assessment of heavy metals contamination in the surface soil of Javaherdasht area (Iran) abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the level of heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, Mo, Co, As and Ni) from 03 sites in the surface soil of the Javaherdasht, around Chaboksar city, Iran, so, The highest concentrations of metals were found at the site-91 and The lowest concentrations of metals were found in the site-91.According to the values of correlation coefficients, except the As, all of heavy elements shown a significant positive correlation existed among the metals studied, indicating that the elements were derived from lithogenic sources.Surface sediment pollution assessment was carried out using enrichment factor (EF).The EF values for all metals studied in the Surface sediments confirms Lithogenic sources on the metal levels in the surface sediments of Javaherdasht area and related to weathering of rock units and recycling of surface soils in the Javaherdasht area.
