Abstract:

Poplar are well recognized in short rotation forestry world over. 11 Natural Hybrid Clones (Half-Sib) of poplar were planted in March, 1111 to 1111 on the Mehregan research stations in the Kermanshah Province, and were subjected for screening. The then year’s growth performance was evaluated. Heritability for ratio of diameter to height (%63.64) and plant height (%%3.6) was found highest and genetic gain of the wood volume (%63.64) and ratio of diameter to height (.6366) was found highest. Genotypic, phenotypic and environment coefficients of variations were recorded maximum (.63164) for wood volume character. Phenotypic correlation coefficient was highest between diameter at breast height and wood volume (13.66). On the basis of 11 year growth performance, four clones namely Populus deltoides 6.3%, Populus deltoides 6.3%, Populus deltoides 6.36 and Populus deltoids 6.311 are found suitable for lower and mid-hills of the Kermanshah province.
