Abstract:

In recent years, the growing demand for High Data Rate (HDR) transmission systems, has promoted the development and expansion of Orthogonal Frequency Division Modulation (OFDM) in the satellite systems. Due to some problems such as the loss of orthogonality of the signals and reduction of efficiency in communication systems, using appropriate methods for frequency synchronization in OFDM receivers is critical. In this paper, a general method for fine carrier frequency synchronization based on pilot tones for OFDM systems is presented. In the presented model, after the channel estimation, the synchronization parameters extracted by the phase variation of pilot symbols. The presented model, implements a 64 carrier OFDM waveform with a 16 point Cyclic Prefix (CP). The OFDM symbol has 16 pilot tones and uses 4-QAM modulation. Finally, the proposed model simulated by MATLAB and the synchronization simulation results are presented.
