The relationship between emotional intelligence and competitive anxiety of athlete women in the national basketball league

Background: The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and competitive anxiety in female athletes of basketball super league. Materials and methods: The research population consists of 12 teams basketball players of women's basketball super League (N=180). The study sample were selected from availablemethod and consisting of 150 athletes with mean age of (22.1 ± 3.01 years). In order to datacollection, Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire of Sybrya shrink (1984) and Martens competitive anxiety Questionnaire was used. Data analysis using descriptive statistics (index of central tendency and dispersion) and -KS test, Levine test and Pearson correlationcoefficient in the significance level of 0.05 was done. Result and discussion: The results of data analysis showed, There are a Significantrelationship between emotional intelligence and competitive anxiety of Sportswomen and components of emotional intelligence, self-regulation and self-motivation variables showed asignificant relationship with competitive anxiety in Sportswomen (p ≤0.05). Conclusion: Recommended to reduce anxiety in athletes, programs are used to identify components of emotional intelligence and its impact on Sportswomen performance.
