Abstract:

In this study, a Regenerative Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is proposed for the conversion of low temperature solar energy to electricity. The cycle is constructed and simulated using EBSILON software. The different working fluids are tested for maximum efficiency of the regenerative ORC. A parametric study is performed for the determination of the range of parameters, say temperature and pressure. The refrigerans; R245fa, R2123, R124, R227ea and R141b which are compatible with Regenerative ORC operated by solar energy source having temperature between 125oC and 260oC, are used in the parametric study. The first and second law analyses were performed for the determination of optimum operating conditions. The results are tabulated and the proper fluid is determined as R141b for wide range of applicability at low temperature
