Firefly Algorithm based on Fuzzy Mechanism for OptimalCongestion Management abstract
This paper presents optimal congestion management in an electricity market using Firefly Algorithm(FA) and Fuzzy mechanism. The FA is a meta-heuristic, nature-inspired, optimization algorithm whichis based on the social (flashing) behavior of fireflies, or lighting bugs, in the summer sky in the tropicaltemperature regions. Transmission pricing and congestion management are the key elements of acompetitive electricity market based on direct access. They also focus of much of the debate concerningalternative approaches to the market design and the implementation of a common carrier electricitysystem. This paper focuses on the tradeoffs between simplicity and economic efficiency in meeting theobjectives of a transmission pricing and congestion management scheme. The effectiveness of theproposed technique is applied on 30 and 118 bus IEEE standard power system in comparison withCPSO, PSO-TVAC and PSO-TVIW. The numerical resultsdemonstrate that the proposed technique isbetter and superior than othercompared methods
