A New Algorithm for Common Phase Error Estimation for Multipath Fading Channel in OFDM Systems abstract

The performance of an OFDM system can be strongly degraded by the presence of random phase noise. Phase noise causes constellation rotation, the so called Common Phase Error (CPE), and Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI). In the proposed compensation scheme, we jointly estimate CPE and data. It is shown by computer simulations that the proposed scheme can effectively mitigate the CPE caused by phase noise and improve the bit error rate of OFDM systems.
