A New Fast Motion Estimation Algorithm Based on Gray coded Representation abstract
In this paper, a new fast motion estimation algorithm based on block-matching using Gray coded values to represent gray levels is proposed. Binary motion estimation algorithms reduce the computational complexity, but sometimes generate an inaccurate motion vectors. This new algorithm uses Gray coded representation and newmatching criteria to increase accuracy. In order to further improve the computational efficiency, a new four step search (NFSS) algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves better accuracy than other binary algorithms and provides faster processing time comparing to four step search (FSS) and full search (FS) methods.
