Abstract:
Majority of the time, magnetic resonance (MR) images are distorted by noise. Noise can be added at various phases from image acquisition to the transfer of image into the digital form. Noise reduction is still tough owing to the trade-off between noise reduction and preserving detail features. Gaussian noise is mostly seen into MR images so noise removal is very crucial as the preprocessing step. Various techniques, with their own advantages and limitations, have been proposed for MR image denoising. Two-dimensional (2D) adaptive filters are recently proposed for image processing. In this paper, 2D adaptive filters are used for MR image denoisng. Gaussian noise is added in real MRI data and simulation results are demonstrated and compared.
