Abstract:
Various intelligent devices are invented for monitoring and maintenance of power transmission and distribution lines that are dealing with an ever increasing stress. To provide power to these devices inductive energy harvesting is considered as a ubiquitous method. In this paper the methodology for designing an optimal toroid-shaped inductive energy harvester is presented. Various features including harvestable power, core and coil size and overall cost are optimized via a precise mathematical approach. The performance of optimal design is validated by a 3D finite element analysis coupled with an electric circuit.
