Abstract:

This essay is going to study the peak Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) in an average of 1 gr and 10 gr of the head tissue in the frequency of 900 MHz which is the operation frequency of the first generation of cellphones. The radiating element here will be a helix antenna. Two head models were used; a Specific Anthropomorphic Mannequin (SAM) phantom and an elliptical cylinder model including five layers of biological tissues. The effect of distance between the head model and the radiating element on the exposure ratio was studied. After that a metamaterial was modeled using the Drude model and the influence of that on SAR reduction was scrutinized. Finally SAR reduction in human head using Split Ring Resonator (SRR) was studied. Simulations were done by CST Microwave Studio which uses Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method with hexahedral mesh to evaluate SAR.
