Abstract:

.Magnetized water is obtained by passing of water through a strong permanent magnet installed on a feed pipeline. This research was performed at Gorgan agricultural and natural resources research center, Iran to investigate soil salinity under trickle irrigation using magnetized water. Two main treatments of magnetized and non-magnetized water and three sub-treatments of irrigation water salts were used. The experiment was laid out with a complete randomized block design with three replications. Soil EC (electrical conductivity) around the emitters was determined 24 hours after irrigation during the three months of irrigation period. The results showed that mean soil EC at depths of 0-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm below the emitter for magnetized irrigation water treatment was less than non-magnetized irrigation water treatment and the differences were significant (p<0.05). Irrigation with magnetized water as compared to the non- magnetized water caused on average up to 30.2% decrease in soil EC. The use of magnetized water for trickle irrigation is recommended to reduce soil salinity.
