Calibration of Embedded Inclinometers in Strapdown Inertial Navigation System by Two-axis Turntable abstract
In this paper, a practical process is suggested for laboratory calibration of high accuracy inclinometers for use in strapdown inertial navigation system, by means of a two-axis turntable. First, the applied inclination-measuring sensor is introduced and its practical specifications like noise problem and nonlinearity are investigated. Thereafter, the application of inclinometer in a strapdown inertial navigation system explained. The definition of calibration tests, data acquisition and signal processing, error model selection and parameter estimation are described in details. This method is planned for embedded inclinometers in a strapdown inertial navigation system, which has an advantage compared to individual sensor calibration, because it compensates all mechanical deviations and installation errors. The procedure was implemented for two capacitive dual-axis inclinometers, and the results were examined by proper tests. By proposed technique, the inclinometers were successfully calibrated with accuracy up to seconds.
