Recovery Behaviour of Bitumen abstract
The recovery behaviour of pure bitumen is investigated. Single creep recovery tests were conducted on a 70/100 penetration grade bitumen over a range of stress levels and temperatures for a series of total strains before unloading using Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR). It is found that, at the same test conditions (temperature and stress level), the recovered strain increases with increasing the total strain before unloading. This continues up to a level of the total strain before unloading after which the recovered strain tends towards a constant value. The level of the total strain before unloading after which the recovered strain is constant increases with increasing the applied shear stress level. The recovered strain in the creep recovery test was found to increase with increasing applied stress level independent of temperature .
