Evaluating the Efficiency of Insurance Companies by Using the Two-stage Data Envelopment Analysis Method(Case study, efficiency of insurance companies in Iran during the 2008 to 2012)

Due to the development of a competitive environment among the insurancecompanies, surveying the efficiency of these companies and comparing the efficiency of eachone according to fixed criteria have great importance. Surveying the process of efficiency ofcompanies can have too much information for these companies. The companies canrecognize their strength and weak points and take action to strength them through those.In this research it is considered to surveying the efficiency of insurance companiesduring the 2008 to 2012 through the two-stage data envelopment analysis method. For thispurpose input and output indicators were chosen and needed data were collected at twostages. Then through the two-stage DEA model, the efficiency of companies was calculated.Finally, the performance of companies was presented according to their efficiency in threegroups of more than 90 percent, more than 70 percent, and more than 60 percent.
