The Evaluation of the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Mental Health among the Staff of Education Organization in Ilam, Iran

The current paper tries to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and mentalhealth. The research method used here is a descriptive correlative method. The populationunder study is consisted of 550 people working in Education Organization in Ilam and 225people were chosen randomly among them. The data gathering tool was a questionnairewhose stability was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. This coefficient was equalto 0.754 for emotional intelligence questionnaire and 0.849 for mental health questionnaire.In order to analyze the data in descriptive level we used some statistical tests includingfrequency, percent, average and standard deviation also in deductive level we used Pearson’sCorrelative Coefficient to test the hypotheses. The results show that there is a directrelationship between emotional intelligence and mental health (life satisfaction, selfacceptance,self-respect) and also there is an indirect relationship between emotionalintelligence and physical problems.
