Abstract:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women all around the world and of every 8women are likely to be with a woman in her lifetime in this malignancy. Each year more thanone million and one hundred thousand women are diagnosed with breast cancer in theworld. This study aimed to comply methods screening for breast cancer and its associationwith susceptibility and severity among women in Tabriz. In this cross-sectional study of 180women referred to Imam Reza Hospital, which had been selected cluster , were studied. Thedata questionnaire consisted of demographic information, knowledge and performance.Questions the perceived threat (sensitivity and severity) based on the Health Belief ScaleChampion about breast cancer screening methods. The patients were aged 20 to 65 years,mean 31.2 ± 4.8 years. 83.4% did not have knowledge of any of the questions they answercorrectly. The performance of 34.1% of breast self-examination, clinical examination by adoctor or health worker record 12.8 percent and 7 percent had a history of mammography. 5.1% sensitivity and 41 % perceived high severity . High level of knowledge in self-examinationand clinical breast examination did not find, but meaning- relationship was found betweenmammograms. Knowledge and practice of women than breast cancer screening methodswas inappropriate. Most of their perceived susceptibility to breast cancer was low .Interventions to raise awareness and high level of knowledge in order to achieve desirableperformance in the field of breast cancer screening is necessary.
