Abstract:

Abstract Background: Cancer is the main cause of death and an important obstacle to increase life expectancy in any country of the world, and breast cancer is one of the most common and worrying health problems of women in the world. Also, weight gain and obesity are growing in the whole world, and it has been stated in studies that obesity has doubled compared to the past, and in most countries of the world, the number of women who are overweight and obese is more than men. Adiponectin and leptin are hormones that are secreted from adipose tissue and are associated with several chronic diseases including cancer. Therefore, investigating the relationship between obesity and body mass and body fat with the risk of cancer seems more necessary. This systematic review study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between obesity and breast cancer in women .Methods: In order to find relevant studies, a comprehensive search was conducted in Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar international databases, and only English articles were reviewed, and to obtain more up-to-date information, a time filter was applied from the beginning of ۲۰۲۰ to April ۲۰, ۲۰۲۳. Keywords breast neoplasms, obesity, overweight, clinical trials as topic, mice, rats were used for searching. Keywords were selected from MESH database and combined with Boolean operators NOT, OR, AND.Results: From the total of ۲۶۵ articles that were found, ۴ articles were included in the systematic review. All the articles were of medium and good quality. The results of the studies showed that obesity is directly related to the increased risk of breast cancer .Conclusion: Due to adipokines that are secreted from adipose tissue, obesity can increase the risk of developing a group of cancers, especially breast cancer. Since obesity increases leptin and decreases adiponectin levels, the ratio of leptin/adiponectin is used as a predictor. Breast cancer growth promoter is suggested.
