Factors affecting hospital information system acceptance by caregivers of educational hospitals of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences in 2015 based on technology acceptance model (TAM)

Introduction: Technology acceptance model (TAM) is a valid model for predicting the technology acceptance by the users. This study aimed to identify factors affecting hospital information system acceptance by caregivers (physicians and nurses).Method: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2015. The research population was the physicians and nurses working in public hospitals of the city of Bandar-Abbas. The convenient sampling method was used to select 172 persons. Data collection tool was a questionnaire which its validity and reliability was measured. Data were entered within SPSS software and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and the Spearman’s rho test.Results: Direct and positive relationship exist between the variables of image in using IT applications and perceived usefulness (R=0.26, P<0.01). The level of computer skills had a direct positive effect on perceived ease of use (R=0.40, P<0.01) and behavioral intention (R=0.30, P<0.01). Furthermore, subjective norms only had a positive direct effect on perceived ease of use (R=0.65, P<0.001). Perceived ease of use had no effect on behavioral intention but had a direct positive effect on PU (R=0.46, P<0.001). Also, perceived usefulness had a positive direct effect on behavioral intention (R=0.61, P<0.001).Conclusions: Image in using IT application, the level of computer skills, subjective norms, Perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness regarding of the use of IT application had a more prominent role in the acceptance of hospital information system by the users. Therefore, it is necessary to consider these variables while designing, purchasing, or revising hospital information systems
