Removal of Pb2+ by using polythiophene and its nanocomposite abstract
Polythiophene and its nanocomposites prepared by using FeCl3 as an oxidant via chemical oxidative polymerization. In this reaserch the effect of PEO as surfactant and SiO2 as an additive on the propertis of composite and Pb (II) removal in aqueous media were investigated. SiO2 nanoparticles coated on the PTh via oxidative polymerization. The chemical structure and morphology of product were characterized by Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy FTIR), X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The results indicate that the possible effect of type and concentration of surfactant have important role the chemical structure, size of particles and removal efficiency. FTIR spectroscopy shows that the peaks intensity, dependent on surfactant and has low shift. Batch study is done to estimate the influence of contact time, and initial concentration of Pb (II) on the removal.
