Abstract:
Uracil is one of the four nucleobases in the nucleic acid of RNA that are represented by theletters A, G, C and U. The others are adenine (A), cytosine (C), and guanine (G). In RNA,uracil binds to adenine via two hydrogen bonds. In DNA, the uracil nucleobase is replaced bythymine[1]. Uracil could be considered a demethylated form of thymine. The current studyentrails the density functional theory tautomery keto-enol derivetives uracil. The relativetautomerization energies, dipole moments, and the equilibrium contents for the tautomers ofuracil of the two possible (keto or enol) was studied by quantum-chemical calculations, usingthe B3LYP level of calculation with the 6-311G basis set with full geometry optimization. The study of prototropic tautomerization is intimately related to the study of proton transferreactions[2-3].
