Long- term numerical wave simulation for booshehr eave rose. abstract

Selection of wind duration is one of the most important problems in wave rose calculation using empirical relations, especially in lack of enough measured data. Offshore wave rose has been calculated for booshehr offshore area, using numerical wave simulation allover Persian Gulf, continously for seventeen years. The time series of simulation results in a grid point near Boshehr has been used for satistical analysis and wave rose calculation. The result has been compared against the results of an empirical relaton using different wind durations. Then the best choice of wind duration in the empirical relation has been distinguished for Boshehr and around it. Moreover the characteristic of the resulted wave has been inspected and the difference between prevalent wind and wave direction has been described. The effect of geometry of khark and kharkoo islands has been taken in account in both methods. The wave height- wave period relation from numerical and empirical methods have been compared against measured data.
