Land Reclamation, Cpastal Protection and Soil Improvement Case Study of Assaluyeh Petrochemical Complex Zone

Land Reclamation in Coatal area. Is one of the sophisticated multi discipline coastal projects. Due to lack of enough low land area and axistence of rather mountains closely bordered to the sea in Assaluyeh Special Energy Zone; it has been predicted to benefit recovering necessary lands from the sea by reclimation, for construction of Assaluyeh Petrochemical Complex. The area of reclaimed lands is estimated about 200 Ha, which makes this project as a very big land reclametion project in the world by its quantity. This paper considers all technical aspects in land Reclamation from the sea in general and for any aspect reviews the condition for the above mentioned project as a case study. These aspects are as fllows: - Filling Materials & Suitable Barrow pit - Determination of how to procced towards the sea (Temporary Protection) - Protection of reclaimed lands - Soil Improvement - Executional Considerations in Fast Tracking Projects.
