Optical characterizations of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene/nanoclay nanocomposite abstract
Nowadays, nano particles due to their special properties are attracted which nano clay is one of them. This paper is attempting to evaluate the effect of montmorillonite clay (MMT) on the optical properties of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). In order to reach this aim, first ABS/MMT nanocomposite was produced by melt mixing method and then samples prepared by injection molding. In the next stage the dispersion and structure of nanocomposites were investigated by XRD. The results show that MMT particles were dispersed as well as within the polymer matrix. The shine and spectrometry tests also show the shine and L*, a* and b* decrease by adding MMT nano-particles. This outcome confirms the MMTs in addition of positive influence of physical properties, can be used as a pigment in polymer industry.
