Abstract:
This work carried out to investigate the effect of extrusion process on the microstructure of Mg-Al-Ca alloys. The extrusion process was conducted in ratio 1:12 at 450 °C. The microstructures before and after extrusion were observed by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) together with an energy dispersive spectroscope (EDS). Experimental results show that the microstructure was included α (Mg) and the Al2Ca phase. After extrusion, the Al2Ca phase is sharply broken. Optical micrographs parallel to extrusion direction at 450 °C showed dynamically recrystallized grains
