Abstract:

Industrial processes are being controlled with various process control techniques to havemore efficiency because of many economical and environmental reasons at all. The bestknowncontrollers used in industrial control processes are proportional-integral-derivative(PID) controllers because of their simple structure and robust performance in a wide range ofoperating conditions. Also, to help the environment the parameters of industrial processesshould be controlled in an optimized way. These parameters are categorized as pressure,steam, temperature of the industrial machinery in use. In this paper, the steam flowparameters of a boiler are controlled using PID and fuzzy logic controller. Then thedevelopment of a fuzzy gain scheduling scheme of PID controller for this process controlwill be described. Fuzzy rules and reasoning are utilized on-line to determine the controllerparameters that would be steam parameters based on the error signal and its first difference.Finally, simulation results demonstrate that better control performance can be achieved incomparison with Ziegler-Nichols PID controller and fuzzy logic controller.
