Abstract:
In this study hybrid hydrogels based on starch and acrylic polymer was synthesized in three step process.First acrylic microgels baesd on poly (AA-NaAA-AM-AMPS) was synthesized through inverse emulsion polymerization. Second starch was modified with microgel latex to prepared hybrid hydrogels. Synthetic and natural component in this hydrogel were 30 and 70 % respectively. The results shows that contribution of natural part in hybrid hydrogels is considerably more than other procedure for preparation of hybrid hydrogels such as graft polymerization. Third surface crosslinking of hybrid hydrogels to improve absorbency under load (AUL) which is the main drawback of hybrid hydrogels. The effect of different parameters such as modification condition (time and temperature) and surface crosslinking agent (SCA) content on swelling properties of hybrid hydrogel were investigated. The highest swelling capacity for hybrid hydrogels (87g/g) was achieved for samples which is modified at 70 °C and reaction time of 120min
