Abstract:
Substitution of silicon in the crystalline structure of molecular sieves by various hetroatoms has been a topic of interest for past few decades. The isomorphous substitution of Al and/or Si by other triand tetravalent metal ions is generally considered as a tool for modifying the acidic and catalytic properties of zeolites. In this work, Synthesis of BZSM-5 zeolite in the form of nano-crystals from a clear homogeneous solution with Si/B ratio of 100 has been achieved. The synthetic solutions contained mixtures of low sodium and high TPA+ cation concentrations. The applied method consists of hydrothermal crystallization in an openpolypropylene vessel at atmospheric pressure under reflux. The products were characterized by means of Xray diffraction, FTIR, ICP, PSA and SEM analyses. The effects of synthesis time and temperature on the zeolite crystallinity and crystal morphology were also investigated. The ultimate size of the produced discrete crystals was in the range of 100-200 nm with a narrow particle size distribution. The employed synthesis route
turned out to be successful and well reproducible.
