The Role of Professional ethics and Peronal ethics : A Case Study of the Persian Translations of The Sound and the Fury abstract
According to Baker (2011), ethics plays an important role within the translation profession and the knowledge of ethical standards is essential to good practice, developing the profession and maintaining positiveopinions and perceptions. This study offered an overview of a compilation of rules and directives that translators must follow whileperforming their duties.The present paper was an attempt to apply comparative analysis to the novel of theSound and the Fury by William Faulkner along with its two Persian translations by Sholevar and Hosseini. The models of translation ethics proposed by Chesterman(2001) were used as the framework. Then, the models were investigated in the context by using the examples extracted from the corpus. It was also found what modelof translation ethics was the most frequent, and the influence of professional and personal ethics in thetranslator’s work was examined. It was concluded that the most frequent model of translation ethics was ethics of communication and the research questions of the study were answered.
