Abstract:
Green roofs are a new roofing technology which provide a healthier environment with financial benefits and also PV roofs can produce electricity which can reduce energy costs. In this paper, green roofs and PV roofs are compared and three different climates Hot and Humid, Dry and Humid and Humid Subtropical are considered. The energy savings and payback period of both roofs are calculated. Bandar-Abbas, Yazd and Rasht are concerned as locations having Hot and Humid, Dry and Humid and Marine climates. This study has found that PV roofs save more energy than green roofs and has the shortest payback period in those three climates. PV roofs located in Bandar Abbas and Yazd can save more energy due to sun hours and Rasht has the best climate for installing green roofs
