Abstract:

Nano gamma alumina was prepared by precipitation/digestion reaction between aluminum nitrate and sodium carbonate. At the first stage bohemite was prepared by strictly controlled pH and reaction temperature then calcination process take placed in a specific thermal program, finally bohemite was changed to gamma alumina. The results showed that the alumina particles have spherical shape and their sizes are about 38 nanometer. Also, EDAX analysis showed that sodium ion impurities are removed completely from the produced alumina. Also, FTIR analysis showed that carbonate ion is removed from the prepared alumina. X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed the bohemite and gamma alumina phase formation.
