Abstract:

In this study, Clay-Calcium carbonate sepoxy nanocomposites with content of 1, 3, 5 wt.% Nano-Clay/NanoCalcium carbonate particles were prepared by shear mixing followed by ultrasonicto improvement of nanoparticles dispersion in the epoxy matrix. The microstructures of the nanocomposites were characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found the uniform dispersion of Nano-Calcium Carbonate and exfoliation of Nano-Clay in resulting nanocomposites. The mechanical behavior of nanocomposites was investigated with tensile test. It could be concluded which nanocomposites exhibit the best tensile strength.
