Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Breast cancer screening and early detection has long been as the most effective and the best strategy methods in reducing breast cancer and its prevention. This study have been conducted in 94 aimed to assess the effect of education with health belief model on the performance of BSE.Methodology: In this quasi-experimental studywhich was conducted in field position of Gorgan University, the number of 60 female students aged between 35-20 trained for BSE, based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) and their results evaluated by SPSS software and were analyzed. Results: There was a significant difference in the mean score of knowledge in the intervention and control groups before and after training (Pvalue> 5%). In terms ofBSE education, mean score of the students’ performance has improved from 10.82 percent to 12.63 percent in intervention and control groups. (Pvalue> 5%).Conclusion: According to a survey conducted, a positive effect of HBM on knowledge, attitude and practice of students in breast self-examination which continues to be a valuable screening method for early detection of breast cancer was seen.
