Abstract:
After several years of oil and gas production, the productivity of the wells decreases because processes like asphaltine precipitation and reservoir compaction increase around the wellbore. A common treatment for these wells is performing hydraulic fracturing through injection high pressure fluid into the well . In this study, using sonic log data of Bangestan reservoir in southwest of Iran, a numerical model was implemented to investigate the effect of geomechanical properties such as initial perforation angle and in-situ stresses at different depths of target layer on maximum required pressure (ie., breakdown pressure) for propagating the initial perforation. The model was found highly reliable when compared to analytical data for no deviation angle. Results revealed that breakdown pressure is increased by enhancement of perforation angle.
