The significance of social dimension in urban regeneration policy

Urban structure is a reflection of cultural, social and economic features of its residents. Any concern in urban tissues calls for social considerations. So urban projects would not lead to desirable results without considering social factors. They may also lead to negative results. Generally, novel perspectives in urban regeneration policies now look for new solution for the formation of durable as well as cohesive social groups in human residences and making use of development process in regeneration. In recent decades, local social groups and their activities are considered as appropriate opportunities for experts in urban planning through the use of interactive theories. These experts can solve different economic and bio-environmental problems in urban areas in general. Therefore, considering the theoretical concepts in the present paper, we have discussed the main role of social dimensions in urban regeneration in comparison with other factors. The main method is analytical research in this article. The first component of the thesis includes a literature review of source relating to community participation, urban regeneration especially in the context. Information is obtained from a variety of resources including textbooks, journal publications and books and internet websites. Continue to explore the purpose of the research, two case studies have been chosen. One is located in the Thailand and the second is located in Tehran. And eventually using the results of the theoretical foundations of the analysis of these experiences was developed. Finally recommendations were presented to the collaborative interventions in deteriorated areas.
